Some Manchester United experts think Bruno Fernandes is “getting too big for his boots”, according to reports. The Portugal international has been a leader in the dressing room since his January signing from Sporting Lisbon. But he, like many of his teammates, has had an alarming start to the season.
Fernandes was vital for Manchester United, finishing third in the Premier League table last season, with the 25-year-old scoring 12 goals in 22 appearances.
He instantly became a leader within the Old Trafford dressing room, earning the respect of his teammates, fans and experts alike.
However, like the rest of the team, Fernandes has struggled early this season.
He has scored twice, against Brighton and Tottenham respectively, but the Portugal international has seemed like a shadow of the player he was last season.
And while the club has downplayed talks about a breakup with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Independent says some United insiders think the midfielder is “getting too big for his boots.”
The 25-year-old is a vocal figure at the club and, at halftime from the 6-1 loss to Tottenham, led an investigation into the impending defeat.

He’s also a straightforward presence, and he seems to have ruffled his feathers with the way he spoke to his teammates that day.
Fernandes himself insisted that there was no enmity with Solskjaer and said: “There has been a lot of speculation about it.
“First it was a discussion with teammates, as it did not hold, it was a discussion with only one teammate [Victor Lindelof], as he did not stay now, is the discussion with Solskjaer.
“I think it is a way to destabilize the group. What was said is by no means true.
“They replaced me at half-time, it is true, by technical option. The coach told me that the game was almost over and that we had many games ahead of us. Understood. I was not satisfied but I didn’t say anything. that could harm the group. “

And Solskjaer has since backed the midfielder, insisting that United must unite if they are to emerge from their current slump.
“We have been in contact with those who have left [on international duty] and it’s one of those things you have to get over as soon as you can and move on, “said Solskjaer.
“We know of any small possibility outside that wants to create a division.
“Bruno spoke very well the other day about [how] we are united and we have to stay together. We can’t listen to everyone outside, we just have to move on.
“Bruno has lost two league games since he came to the club and arrived in February. They have been two in quick succession.
