Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could reach one of the best young defenders in Europe.

Manchester United have reportedly expressed interest in Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilón. The Spanish defender spent last season at Sevilla, playing a pivotal role in the Reds’ defeat to Los Palanganas in the Europa League semi-final.

Sergio Reguilón has started his career through the youth configuration of Real Madrid and reached the senior team in 2018, after two seasons on loan at UD Logrones. After his first season with the first team, coach Zinedine Zidane sent the Spaniard to another temporary season at Sevilla.

During his tenure at the Andalusian club, Reguilón made rapid progress under the leadership of Julen Lopetegui, who entrusted the 23-year-old during his time as a manager at Los Blancos. Now that Zidane prefers Ferland Mendy, Madrid bosses are eager to sell one of their brightest assets.

Citing an opportunity, Manchester United have made the necessary contacts to express their interest in hiring the services of Sergio Reguilon, according to MARCA. Real Madrid is willing to listen to offers for the Spaniard who has won a first call to the national team.

After a promising season in which United finished third in the Premier League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to add quality depth to his squad. Sergio Reguilon claims that Luke Shaw has yet to be convinced of his long-term reliability, as he has suffered a number of long-term injuries.

Brandon Williams, who was promoted from the reserve squad over the course of the season, has a long way to go before establishing himself as a frequent starter for Manchester United. Diogo Dalot, who could be a left-back substitute, faces an uncertainty at the club.

Before Manchester United’s interest, Chelsea laid the important foundation for signing Sergio Reguilon, as the deal for Ben Chilwell stalled for a time. But with Frank Lampard catching up with the former Leicester City defender, Solskjaer has a free run on the player, at least in the Premier League.

Outside of England, Inter Milan and Juventus are monitoring the situation surrounding Sergio Reguilon. Real Madrid, desperate to cut their bloated first-team squad, are willing to let go of the side for a fee of around 25 million euros.

Man United, however, is fully committed to hiring Jadon Sancho this summer and is continuing the necessary talks with Aston Villa for Jack Grealish.
