A selection of Manchester United fans on Twitter has produced a mixed reaction to speculation that goalkeeper David de Gea could be sold at the end of the campaign.

The Spanish international has been an excellent server for the Red Devils for a decade, recording 153 clean sheets in 434 appearances for the club.

However, his performances have been inconsistent in recent years and as of late he has been regularly outmatched by Dean Henderson in goal.

De Gea missed a few games last month due to personal reasons, and was unable to regain his place upon his return as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continued with Henderson.

This has led to questions regarding his future with his contract expiring in more than two years, and The Mirror reports that the club is prepared to sell him.

The club is looking to cut his £ 350,000 a week salary from his salary bill, but it won’t be easy as clubs may be reluctant to meet the demands of his contract.

United have reportedly set a price tag of £ 50 million, and it is claimed that they may have to offer you a large reward in order for you to accept a discount at their next club.

The report has produced a mixed response from some of the Red Devils faithful, and here are some reactions on Twitter.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has supported De Gea in the past when he was guilty of goal errors, and it remains to be seen whether the Spaniard will retain his position.

At a recent press conference, Solskjaer declined to confirm whether the Spaniard would start between the posts against Brighton & Hove Albion tonight.

While De Gea remains highly valued by the club, he may not see the prospect of being Henderson’s second fiddler in the main phase of his career.

He was linked to Paris Saint-Germain a couple of years ago, and it will be interesting to see if Les Parisiens are interested in signing him this summer.
