Manchester United boss Ed Woodward has Borussia Dortmund transfer theory after Jadon Sancho turnaround | Soccer Sport

Manchester United Executive Vice President Ed Woodward reportedly believes Borussia Dortmund are trying to demand a ransom from his club during talks by winger Jadon Sancho.

United have been using most of their efforts this summer to try to sign the English international after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made him their number one target.

Woodward finally made a breakthrough earlier this week when Sancho spoke with Solskjaer to discuss salary expectations and agent fees.

All that’s left to sort out is the price that Dortmund want to sell to their 20-year-old star.

The Bundesliga team demanded £ 108m at the beginning of the summer and is not budging from that valuation.

Woodward believes it would be unrealistic to pay such a fee given the force with which its sources of income have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

If anyone knows what it takes to move from the Bundesliga to the Premier League, it is former Bayern Munich and United midfielder Owen Hargreaves.

And he thinks Sancho would be a good fit if he completed a move to Old Trafford.

Hargreaves said: “I hope he comes here. It would be perfect for United.

“I don’t think they (Dortmund) have much discussion because they have practically sold to everyone, be it (Robert) Lewandowski, (Mats) Hummels, (Mario) Gotze or (Ousmane) Dembele. Almost everyone has left there.

“We know that they are a sales club and obviously it is about money.

“At Jadon, as much as we are in a difficult space right now with everything going on in the world, it will be money well spent.

“You just have to make the deal.

“You saw what Bruno did to United. Jadon would do the same. “
