Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Amad Traore from Atalanta in January, according to various sources.
Traore was expected to join Parma, but has failed at the last hurdle.
That has presented an opportunity for United, who initially approached the teenager last month.
Now, they are about to hijack the deal for Traore. Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the 18-year-old will head to Old Trafford in the winter after Atalanta blocked his move to Parma.
Di Marzio says United will pay around € 30m for the talented winger.
Mike mcgrath of the Telegraph It adds that United sent a work permit application for the Ivory Coast winger on Friday. Time means that Traore will have to wait until January to seal her move.
Traore has one goal in three appearances for Atalanta’s first team, making him the first player born in 2002 to score in Serie A.
United have been chasing one winger all summer, with Jadon Sancho as their main target early on. Ousmane Dembele later became his backup plan.
Traore could be a good long-term option, even though he has only played 24 minutes of Serie A football to date.
Koeman does not rule out Dembélé’s movement
With Traore not arriving immediately, Man Utd remains linked to the signing of Dembélé from Barcelona.
The winger was left out of Ronald Koeman’s lineup for Barça’s draw against Sevilla this weekend, and the Dutch manager admits he doesn’t know what the future holds.
“What is true in the world? I don’t know, ”he said.
“At the moment he is a Barcelona player. There is still one day left for entries and exits. We’ll see.”
