Man Utd News: Solskjaer already has the Donny van de Beek problem on his hands | Soccer Sport

He may have only two Premier League matches in his career at Manchester United, but Donny van de Beek has already created a problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford. The acquisition of the Dutchman was considered a great blow by the board, given that Real Madrid and Barcelona have shown interest in the player in the last year.

He impressed in his non-competitive debut at Aston Villa, despite a 1-0 loss behind closed doors.

Van de Beek was then named among the substitutes in a 3-1 loss on the opening day of the Premier League against Crystal Palace.

The 23-year-old came off the bench to make a real impact in the second half of that match, scoring his first goal for the club.

However, in this weekend’s 3-2 win at Brighton, he received just over five minutes of action from the bench.

While Solskjaer will rightly demand patience, you have to wonder if he can bring out the best in the former Ajax player in his current tactical setup.

Given that it was his only summer signing, you would think that he would be placed directly in the starting eleven and the best team in Solskjaer.

It’s an addition that definitely enhances United’s strength in depth, and one that will be needed throughout a long and demanding season in which United seeks to challenge on all fronts.

Despite that, if the club closes the window with Van de Beek as its only signing, the fans will cast more shadow on the hierarchy.
