Manchester United are reportedly considering trading Ousmane Dembele, Ismaila Sarr, Luka Jovic or Edinson Cavani if they cannot finalize a deal for Jadon Sancho.
With the transfer window closing on Monday, the time of despair has come for United, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisting they need another attacking threat if they want to compete for the highest honors this season.
Sancho has been their number one target all summer, but Dortmund still seem unwilling to negotiate a price lower than their £ 108m valuation of the England international.
And according to Sky Sports United, they now have no choice but to consider other last-minute options, with the clock ticking before the October 5 deadline.
Barcelona’s Dembélé is one of those who are seriously considering, and the La Liga giants are known to be open to selling out the French forward.
But the 23-year-old’s salary demands can be a problem, and Barcelona insist they will require United to pay his full salary of £ 215,000 a week.
Watford’s Ismaila Sarr may be a more realistic option, and the player is believed to be available at around £ 40 million.
In the meantime, Jovic has been a huge disappointment to Real Madrid since arriving from Benfica last summer, and he may enjoy the opportunity to revive his career at Old Trafford.
And a last option, perhaps in a slightly shorter term, is Edinson Cavani, who is a free agent after being released by PSG.
While the Uruguayan would offer plenty of winning experience, at 33 he is past his prime, and asking him to meet Premier League standards at his age could be considered a risk.
Whatever happens, it’s expected to be a busy few days at United, as they rush to close a deal or two before Monday on a team they know desperately needs to strengthen.
