Manchester United fans believe the team will struggle to finish in the top four of the Premier League next season if the club does not make any signings in this transfer window.
Manchester United Peoples Person Facebook page asked fans ‘Where do you think Manchester United will end up next season in the Premier League if we do NOT make any signings this summer and this is the team that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to wear?’ and the response was overwhelmingly bleak.
The vast majority of the fans who responded did not even believe that the top four could be achieved without strengthening.
Comments included:
“If we don’t sign, we won’t finish in the top four, which will cost us our best players who will go to the Champions League. Sancho won’t even look at us afterward and that will be the end of us. ‘
Out of the top 4 for sure. No squad depth while others strengthen their teams … ‘
“Back to sixth position until the end of the season.”
“Seventh place, we will compete against players like Tottenham, Leicester, Wolves and Everton.”
“With what we currently have we will finish sixth.”
‘He won’t be anywhere near the top 4… the team is too thin compared to the top 11 and some on the bench. The quality of the team is not there to sustain it. ‘
“6-8th place, we will burn in the middle of the season, we will not make it out of the group stage of the Champions League.”
“He won’t even make it to the top 7, a lot of dead players on the team.”
“I think with the improvement of the other teams and the football of the Champions League I think we will be lucky to get to the top 6.”
A smaller number of fans believed that the Red Devils would still rank in the top four:
‘Top 4 if the main players stay in shape. United are 1 or 2 injuries away from having another difficult season. “
“Last season we lost points against teams in the second half of the table. If we somehow showed more consistency and managed to beat those teams, I would say fourth place. ‘
‘Fourth position at best. It could be worse if the Spurs and Wolves improve. ”
“We can still manage to finish in the top 4, but we cannot compete for any title because the team needs reinforcements.”
“Top 4 if the big players stay in shape all season.”
Not a single cartel believed that United could win the Premier League with the current team.
For many fans, the idea that the squad does not get stronger is unthinkable after the team qualified for the Champions League on the last day of the season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s threadbare squad probably wouldn’t have been able to achieve even that if the lockout hadn’t delayed the end of the season, as it was only because of that delay that players like Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba were able to participate in the rushing in.
Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood scored more than 60 goals between them last season. But how much do you know about other forwards who played for the Red Devils over the years? Take our questionnaire below to find out.
