Police have made a breakthrough in their investigation into the murder of a retired Upington woman who was found tied up in her swimming pool in June.
According to police spokesman Capt. Olebogeng Tawana, the Provincial Organized Crime Unit and Upington detectives located and arrested a man in the informal settlement of Louisvaleweg, near Upington, on Wednesday for the murder of Judith Redelinghuys.

On June 30, Redelinghuys, 71, was found murdered. They had thrown her into the pool and tied her hands behind her back.
Some of her jewelry was later found to be missing, Tawana said.
“The 34-year-old man was positively linked to the incident after an intense police investigation.”
The man is expected to appear in Upington Magistrates Court soon.
