Makhura must replace Masuku urgently, says ANC PEC

JOHANNESBURG – The ANC of Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) wants Prime Minister David Makhura to urgently appoint a new Health MEC.

Makhura fired Dr. Bandile Masuku after an investigation by the SIU found that he failed to perform his job under the Public Finance Management Act.

Makhura said he will not appoint a new Health MEC until the investigation is complete.

Transportes MEC, Jacob Mamabolo, is currently serving in the position.

The PEC also wants Masuku and the presidential spokesperson, Khusela Diko, Be taken to the disciplinary committee of the ANC.

“The result of the DC will determine whether both partners should remain members of the PEC or not,” the ANC said in a statement.

“In order to protect the integrity of both the ANC and the affected members, the PEC ruled that Comrade Bandile Masuku and Khusela Diko should not participate in the organizational processes that are related to the finalization of the PEC decision.”
