JOHANNESBURG – The State Capture Commission presents to Johannesburg Mayor Geoff Makhubo records showing that his company received payments of more than 35 million rand from regiments from 2008 to 2016 and that each time the company was paid, it would make payments to Makhubo’s personal account and to the African National Congress (ANC).

You have yet to confirm the accuracy of the records.

But the commission said that on one occasion, the company paid 4 million rand to his personal account and on another, 7 million rand.

And other payments of more than R600,000 and R300,000 were made by Molelwane to the ANC.

The chairman of the commission, the vice president of the Supreme Court, Raymond Zondo, clarified to Makhubo that he had no reason to dispute the figures presented to him.

“I think from what he’s said, the position is, as things stand, he doesn’t have a reason to dispute this, but he reserves the right because he didn’t review article by article.”
