Eskom has recorded a loss of more than 20 billion rand in the current financial year and is in debt of more than 400 billion rand.
“Given Eskom’s strategic role and importance to the economy, not getting Eskom to change is not an option.”
At SAA, which is receiving a R10.5 billion ransom, Mabuza said the company was strategic and needed help from the government.
“SAA financing must be understood in the line of preserving strategic state instruments for transformation, growth, development and provision of services and job creation.”
