Luis Suárez has criticized his former club, Barcelona, for the way he left this summer, a move that infuriated club icon and good friend Lionel Messi.
The former Liverpool striker was forced to end his Barca career despite still having one year left on his contract at a club where he had scored 198 goals in 283 games in six seasons.
Only Messi and César, an icon of the 1940s and ’50s, have scored more goals for Barça, but the 33-year-old Suarez came out the door quite energetically after the appointment of Ronald Koeman as coach this summer.
The Uruguayan joined La Liga rival Atlético de Madrid on a two-year contract for a nominal fee, and has started his career in the Spanish capital by scoring two goals in his first three appearances.
