Popular dating show Love island It has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, Britain’s ITV said.
According to ITV, there would be no new series until 2021.
He said in a statement Monday that the new coronavirus outbreak meant that it would not be possible to do the seventh season of Love island safely this year.
Love islandPopularity has increased ITV’s advertising revenue in recent years.
Last summer, the reality show set in a villa in Mallorca, Spain, was watched by 6 million fans every night on TVs, tablets, and smartphones, helping the company beat financial forecasts through deals from additional sponsorship.
But travel restrictions and concerns about social estrangement mean viewers this year will be denied their dose of watching handsome twentysomethings basking in the sun as they seek romance and fame.
“We deeply regret fans of the show, but making it safe is our top concern and Love Island will return stronger than ever in 2021,” said ITV television director Kevin Lygo.
ITV is due to post a commercial update on Wednesday. Its shares fell 5% in the midday trade.
