A 35-year-old man lured a girl, only four years old, to his hut where he brutally ended her life. Now he must serve 55 years in jail for his cruelty.
Western Cape Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Yolisa Matakata praised the investigation and prosecution teams for securing the sentence, handed down to Andile Jamda by the Cape Town High Court on Tuesday.
The murder took place in section 40 of Makhaza, Khayelitsha, in July 2018. Jamda has been in detention since his arrest.
He had lured the girl to his hut, where he raped and killed her.
“The victim was found with multiple stab wounds throughout the body and with a cut throat. His lifeless body was dumped in a nearby landfill. “
The victim knew Jamda because they lived in the same area.
Matakata said: “Crimes against women and children are the priority of SAPS, and every effort will be made to arrest the perpetrators, as outlined in this [thorough] investigation conducted by investigating officer, Det Const Luthando Mqikwa of Harare SAPS.
“This conviction should send a strong message to would-be criminals that SAPS is relentless in its efforts to combat crimes against women and children and will pursue the perpetrators of these crimes to face the full power of the law.”
