Liverpool had a successful summer on the transfer front before defending their Premier League title.
After securing their first title in 30 years, Reds coach Jurgen Klopp added Thiago Alcantara, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota to his squad as he looks to extend the club’s tenure at the top.
But with numerous additions to his team’s ranks, the German approached the national transfer deadline knowing he would need to shed several stars.
As such, Liverpool kept busy until the 5pm deadline, securing the loan and permanent departures of several youngsters and fringe players.
Here, we gather the latest news on Liverpool transfers.
Mbappé is Klopp’s ‘dream signing’
Klopp has his sights set on achieving Kylian Mbappé’s dream goal, according to HOW .
The German is believed to be a big fan of the 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star, who joined the French champion for 131 million pounds in 2018 after a year on loan from Monaco.
However, Liverpool would face stiff competition for the 2018 World Cup winner, and La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be interested.
Mbappé is said to be the main target of Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, while Victor Font, who aspires to become Barcelona president, has already contacted the player’s representatives.
Mbappé has scored 92 goals in 127 appearances for PSG, helping him to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles and the Champions League final last season.
Woodburn, Wilson and Elliott go on loan
Liverpool trio Ben Woodburn, Harry Wilson and Harvey Elliott were on loan before Friday’s deadline.
Woodburn has joined Blackpool, where he will be linked with former Liverpool Under-23 boss Neil Critchley on a short-term contract through January.
The 21-year-old, who had previously been linked to Hull in the window, has 10 appearances for Wales but has found first-team football difficult at Anfield with just 11 appearances since his debut in 2016.
Meanwhile, Harry Wilson joined Cardiff on a one-season loan for a fee of £ 1.2 million.
The 23-year-old also attracted interest from Swansea City, Nottingham Forest, Norwich City and Derby County, where he had a successful spell during the 2018/19 campaign.
Wilson is eager to play regularly in first team football after scoring seven goals in 35 loan appearances at Bournemouth last season.
And finally, 17-year-old Harvey Elliott set off for Blackburn. The highly-rated winger was proposed to stay at Liverpool this season, but the club’s departure in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup opened up the possibility of a loan move.
