LIVERPOOL failure Loris Karius is close to completing a season-long loan to Union Berlin.
The goalkeeper has not played for Jurgen Klopp’s team since his horror show in the 2018 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.
BBC Sport says the Bundesliga team is ready to offer the 27-year-old a lifeline in his career.
Karius has not lived up to expectations at Anfield since his £ 4.7 million move from Mainz in 2016.
And he hasn’t redeemed his place in the squad since his double howl in the final two years ago.
He rolled the ball into Karim Benzema’s path and then dropped Gareth Bale’s shot into the net.
Liverpool then put him on a two-year loan deal and signed Alisson as their new number one goalkeeper.
Karius joined Besiktas from the Turkish Super Lig, where he made 67 appearances in nearly two seasons.
But the German star broke his contract after a salary dispute.
He returned to training with Liverpool last month, but has been looking for a new club.
He has also been linked to Hertha Berlin, which finished 11th in the Spanish top flight last season.
Speaking to Transfermarkt, the error-prone goalkeeper said he wants first-team football at his next club.
He said: “Of course I have to play if I really change clubs.
“It doesn’t make sense, ‘I’m leaving Liverpool for a worse club and I’m only number two.’
“But I’m not in a pressure situation at all, I don’t have to change.”
