Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had two reasons to contact Kylian Mbappe’s father

Jurgen Klopp reportedly called Kylian Mbappe’s father, as speculation grows that Liverpool is interested in signing the Frenchman.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has been linked to a £ 150m transfer to Real Madrid in recent weeks, after Zinedine Zidane allegedly made the Senegalese his main target.

Mbappe would cost around £ 250 million, but Liverpool, in theory, would use the £ 150 million from the Mane sale to finance most of the deal.

The transfer is still highly unlikely at this stage, but it is not unrealistic to believe that Liverpool are looking for possible replacements should Mane decide he wants to trade Anfield for the Bernabeu.

According to Le10sport.com, Klopp recently spoke to Mbappe’s father Wilfried to discuss the possibility of signing his son for Liverpool.

Klopp made the call for two reasons: to personally declare Liverpool’s interest in catching the World Cup winner and selling his vision for his son.

Mbappe has not spoken about Liverpool’s alleged interest in him in recent weeks, but has previously spoken about Klopp and what he has accomplished at Anfield.

“What Liverpool is doing right now is amazing,” Mbappe told the BBC. “They are like a machine, they have found a rhythm and they are as if we were playing again, we are playing again.”
