Good evening Liverpool fans. Here are the headlines from Sunday night, September 6.
Fowler: Reds desperate to close the window
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler believes that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp will be desperate for this summer’s transfer window to close.
And that’s because the former striker feels that the appointment of Ronald Koeman as Barcelona coach may prove an attractive option for Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
Fowler said: “Liverpool haven’t done much business in the transfer market this summer, but I imagine Jurgen Klopp would slam the window shut if he could,” said the former Reds forward.
“Reports from Spain that new Barça manager Ronald Koeman wants to sign Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum will send a chill to all Liverpool fans.
“Luis Suárez and Philippe Coutinho have been unable to resist the temptation of the Camp Nou in recent years.”

Carragher makes a daring claim of transfer of Messi
Jamie Carragher doesn’t think Liverpool or Manchester City should have been interested in Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.
Despite being one of the best players the game has ever graced, Carragher stressed that signing Messi would not be a guarantee of success.
The former Reds defender added that since the Argentine star is now 33 years old, the financial outlay needed to get him away from the Camp Nou may not have been successful.
“Taking a step back and looking at the numbers involved and the age of the player, I’m not sure I would have wanted my team to sign him,” he said. said.
“Would City have improved? Of course.
“But Liverpool still beat Barcelona 4-0, and Barcelona did not win the league this year and have not won the Champions League for a long time.
“We are talking about one of the best players, but just because you get it there is no guarantee of success.”
Souness disappointed in transfer strategy
Former Liverpool manager Graeme Souness has expressed disappointment at the club’s transfer strategy this summer.
Only Kostas Tsimikas has made it to Anfield in the current window and Souness believes the club has missed an opportunity to strengthen itself while at the top.
“The perfect time to sign players is when they don’t have to be an instant hit, but can be phased in, so I’m disappointed that Liverpool didn’t do it while they are world and Premier League champions,” Souness wrote in The times.
“That worked well with people like Fabinho and Robertson, who came to the fore after spending several months learning the system and were able to lie down without being the center of attention.
“That was the Liverpool classic when I played there and the Manchester United classic for over 20 years with Sir Alex Ferguson, to strengthen from a position of power.”
