JOHANNESBURG – Gauteng Education Ministry Panyaza Lesufi said on Friday that a report on the drowning of 13-year-old Keamohetswe Seboko found the principal and five teachers were responsible for the tragedy.
Lesufi visited the boy’s relatives at their Vosloorus home earlier today to present an investigative report on the matter.
He said the trip was difficult to make.
“You know, every time we have to go to these families and explain what happened. Now they see you as the person responsible for the loss of a life. You were the last person to take care of her son, so it was a difficult morning.
“But eventually, I was reunited with the family, accompanied by an independent law firm tasked with investigating the matter, along with our officials.”
NOTE: It’s becoming normal to issue death certificates instead of report cards, says Lesufi
Seboko’s body was found floating in Laerskool Bekker’s pool in Magaliesburg in January of this year.
At the time, the school claimed there was nothing wrong, but the family has always questioned it.

The report has recommended that appropriate sanctions be imposed against those responsible.
