‘Leaks warfare’ – Phumzile van Damme throws the gauntlet – The Citizen

After discovering that she will reportedly be charged under the party’s internal processes via a media report, Deputy Prosecutor Phumzile Van Damme has thrown the gauntlet.

However, it is currently unclear who exactly in the DA is ready to feel his anger.

Reacting on Twitter to a report published in today’s edition of the Sunday Times newspaper, Van Damme responded forcefully: “What a fascinating story in today’s ST about the ‘purge’ of DA, in which I first discover the content of the report I will be loaded. I have found almost all the details about this saga in the press. Neither Fedex nor FLC have had the decency to inform me first. We are guided “, said Van Damme in a series of tweets that reacted to the content of the article.

She then referred to a strategy she calls a “leak war” that she claimed was used by the party to force Mmusi Maimane out of the party’s highest position.

“A coincidence that this is continually leaking? Too many times to be a coincidence, I would say. I mean, the same leaking strategy was used to get Mmusi out of the party. War escapes. And what am I supposed to do in response to this? Turn the other cheek? Shrinkage? Leave? LMAO ”.

“Should I turn around and accept my name being dragged through the mud? Haska. Don’t call me to apologize. The last time my name was dragged through the mud is the last time I accept an apology. Do you want this to unfold in public? Sure, no problem, send me an email and we can dance the tango ”, he added.

When one of his followers responded to his thread, speculating that he might quit, Van Damme shut down any thoughts on the idea.

He also took up the defense of the party when another of his supporters alleged that the party was racist and that it was effectively purging its members of color.

“No. The district attorney is not racist. I would not stay if he were. He is such a lazy way to understand and analyze the district attorney,” Van Damme tweeted.

Referencing Michelle Obama’s famous quote “when they go down, you go up,” Van Damme said she was tired of taking the right path and indicated that she would face her detractors head-on.

According to the Sunday Times, Van Damme is among seven prominent district attorney figures facing disciplinary charges or under investigation. Van Damme, in particular, has been accused of discrediting the party.

The report alleges that the majority of these figures are black people who are Maimane supporters and do not support the interim leader of the party, John Steenhuisen.

His comments come as the party sits down for the last day of its two-day political conference.

The citizen has reached out to DA’s national spokesperson, Solly Malatsi, for comment and will update this article accordingly as soon as we receive a response.
