DStv has launched its new product Add Movies, where existing customers can add DStv’s three dedicated movie channels to their package for an additional R99 per month.
The feature, which was first announced on August, is available to Compact Plus, Compact, Access, EasyView, India and Family customers. Premium subscribers already have access to these channels.
To add this service to their DStv subscription, users can use DStv’s WhatsApp self-service feature, which is available using the number 060 060 3788.
Alternatively, subscribers can add the new service through the MyDStv app or through the DStv website.
“Offering customers choice and value remains our priority. Add Movies firmly delivers on both scores, with a wide variety of quality movie content at an attractive price, ”said Yolisa Phahle, CEO of General Entertainment and Connected Video at MultiChoice Group.
The three channels that will be available to users are:
- M-Net Movies 1 – offers award-winning animation, comedy, romance and drama films for the whole family on Channel 104
- M-Net 2 Movies – offers the latest adrenaline-pumping action, sci-fi, fantasy and suspense movies on channel 106
- fliekNET – formerly an emerging channel, it will now become a permanent channel and will showcase locally produced blockbuster movies, classic favorites and a variety of Afrikaans movie formats on channel 149.
MultiChoice noted that this does not mean it will close BoxOffice, as the movies available in BoxOffice are not yet available on these movie channels.
DStv said that it has seen an increase in viewership figures during the blackout period and that the availability of both international and local content is a decisive factor in users’ viewing habits.
“During this period, subscribers spent an average of five hours a day watching television, and M-Net was one of the most popular channels with binging content for the whole family,” MultiChoice said.
MultiChoice said DStv has also partnered with Col’Cacchio and UberEats to offer R99 pizza movie night specials.
To access this offer, Customers can use the promo code “Add Movies” when ordering certain pizzas at Col’Cacchio stores in the UberEats app to get a 10% discount on their order.
