South Africa recorded 20 more Covid-19-related deaths as of Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 19809.

South Africa recorded 20 more Covid-19-related deaths on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 19809.

Twenty deaths have been reported in the following provinces: 19 in the Eastern Cape and one in Gauteng.

One death was reported, in Gauteng, in the past 24 to 48 hours.

“We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased and thank the health workers who treated the deceased patients,” Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said in a statement Sunday evening.

The cumulative number of tests performed to date is 4,980,440 with 17,266 new tests performed since the last report.

Recoveries are now 679,688, which translates to a 92% recovery rate.
