Latest Covid-19 numbers: 18,741 deaths, 708,359 cases, and a 90% recovery rate

South Africa recorded 85 more Covid-19-related deaths as of Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 18,741.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases detected is 708,359, with 2,055 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Of the 85 deaths reported new fatalities, eight occurred in the last 48 hours.

“We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased and thank the healthcare workers who treated the deceased patients,” Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said in a statement Wednesday night.

The cumulative number of tests performed to date is 4,607,883, with 26,537 new tests performed since the last report.

The recoveries are now 641,706, which translates into a recovery rate of 90%.
