The former MEC of Finance, Ravi Pillay, has been transferred to the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, thus assuming the role of provincial leader in government affairs. Nomusa Dube-Ncube will now head the finance department.

DURBAN – KwaZulu-Natal Prime Minister Sihle Zikalala reshuffled his cabinet on Tuesday, making changes to the province’s Finance departments, as well as the Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs departments.
The former MEC of Finance, Ravi Pillay, has been transferred to the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, thus assuming the role of leader of the province’s government businesses.
Nomusa Dube-Ncube will now head the Finance department.

The shakeup is seen as an attempt by Zikalala to consolidate its power amid claims that Dube-Ncube has ambitions to take over as prime minister of KwaZulu-Natal.
In a statement, Zikalala praised both Pillay and Dube-Ncube as experienced leaders who will better respond to the economic crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
