A KwaZulu-Natal woman and her son were beaten to death by a man they knew, police said Thursday.

Police officers from Phoenix, north of Durban, were investigating the incident on Solly Mathe Road in Mount Royal on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Brigadier Jay Naicker said:

“They proceeded to the scene, where they found the body of a 34-year-old woman. A man they knew had stabbed her to death with a knife. Her two-year-old son was also injured. She died while receiving medical attention. She was found at the scene. a mountain knife “.

He said the attacker fled the scene into a nearby bush before police arrived. The murder charges were opened for investigation at the Phoenix Police Station.

Naicker said police, along with the K9 Unit, conducted a search for the attacker on Wednesday.

“The police worked tirelessly throughout the night searching for the man involved in the horrific murders. In the middle of the night, the suspect was seen sneaking into the house. He was arrested and found in a bloody shirt. Police confiscated his shirt for further investigation. “

Naicker said the victims have not been identified by their relatives.

“The 62-year-old suspect is in police custody and will soon appear before the Verulam Magistrates Court.”
