JOHANNESBURG – KwaZulu-Natal Vice President Mluleki Ndobe has passed away.

The provincial government has confirmed his death, saying he passed away at his home in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said Ndobe was found with gunshot wounds at his home.

“When the police arrived at the scene, they found the body of a 45-year-old man with gunshot wounds. No dirty act is expected at this stage, ”said Jay Naicker of the police.

Ndobe was a former mayor of Harry Gwala District Township and was linked to the 2017 assassination of ANC Youth League leader Sindiso Magaqa.

He was arrested in March, however, all charges brought against him were dropped after it was found that sufficient evidence was lacking linking him to Magaqa’s death.
