JOHANNESBURG – Parts of the Kruger National Park will be affected this weekend by heavy precipitation and high winds due to Cyclone Eloise.
Disaster management teams in Kruger National Park are on high alert ahead of the cyclone, which is expected to hit the northern parts of the park in Limpopo.
Eloise has been identified as a Category 2 cyclone after hitting the port city of Beira and surrounding areas in Mozambique.

The imminent arrival of the storm ashore required the closure of some serious roads, picnic sites and campgrounds in the national park.
South African National Parks spokesman Ike Phaahla urged everyone who will visit the park this weekend to be more mindful.
“Our scientists serve on the joint fund’s national operating committee with other stakeholders and will provide guidance on future action. But for now, visitors are continually notified and others who have entered the park will be moved to alternative camps. “
