Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for those responsible for what they described as the “brutal murder” of an 80-year-old woman whose body was found at her home in the Koraal retirement village in Polokwane.
Jacoba “Jakkie” Grobler’s body was found around 11:00 on Monday, police spokesman Brig. Motlafela Mojapelo said.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the suspects entered the house and found the deceased, who is left alone, and severely assaulted her.
“The body of the victim was found by her friend and the police were called. Upon arrival, the police found the deceased lying in bed with open wounds that were possibly caused by a blunt object. The laptop and the cell phone of the deceased. ” Mojapelo said.
The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has instructed that a 72-hour activation plan be implemented to locate the killers.
Cases of murder and home theft have been opened and anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the killers has been asked to contact Brigadier James Esbach at 082 576 0743 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111.
