Earlier this week, SowetanLIVE’s sister publication TshisaLIVE spoke with three trusted sources closely connected to the situation regarding the abuse allegations.
The sources, who requested anonymity for fear of retaliation, said Monique had obtained a protection order against Katlego. They also shared first-hand accounts that they were called to the couple’s home late at night after an alleged incident of abuse.
Monique’s brother Seth Muller, who highlighted the alleged abuse through a series of posts on his Instagram Stories earlier this week, told TshisaLIVE that he had allegedly been threatened by Katlego’s attorneys for the post.
“His lawyers threatened me, saying that he will no longer pay child support if I talk about what is happening. I don’t know what talking about her abuse with her son has to do with it, but she won’t pay child support if I do speak up. “
One of the sources also informed TshisaLIVE that Monique had applied for a protection order against Katlego, adding that she had also opened a domestic violence case.
For legal reasons, the Western Cape Police Service SA (SAPS) could not say whether such a case had been opened. “Please note that SAPS cannot reveal the identity of a complaint in a criminal case, and that the identity of a suspect can only be revealed once the person has appeared in court.”
However, he confirmed that the Sea Point police had been informed of a violation of a protection order.
“Notwithstanding the foregoing, please note that this office can confirm that a violation of a protection order case has been reported at Sea Point Police Station. The case file has been sent to the superior state prosecutor and a decision is awaited, ”reads the statement issued to TshisaLIVE by the provincial media communication commander, Colonel Andrè Traut.
In response to the accusations, The morning show of Expresso Producer Cardova Productions has issued a statement confirming that Katlego would not be on the air until the investigation is carried out.
“Certain serious allegations have been posted on social media about Mr. Katlego Maboe and a video was leaked last night showing Mr. Maboe apparently admitting to cheating on his partner.
“We have been informed that a legal process related to the complaints is currently on hold. We condemn any act of violence and abuse, especially against women and children, so we take these accusations very seriously. Until the matter has been fully investigated and the outcome is known, Mr. Maboe will not appear in The morning show of Expresso“the statement read.
