During the Royally Obsessed podcast, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito discussed their 10 key moments for the Royal Family in 2020. Ms Fiorito highlighted the Duchess of Cambridge’s Hold Still project that highlighted how the British public was navigating the coronavirus crisis.

The royal commentator said: “What I recognize in Kate is her ability to really see these projects and campaigns.

“She has done an exceptional job.

“We heard about Hold Still and the project with the National Portrait Gallery to do this virtual campaign that highlighted how everyone was browsing Covid.

“She never let us forget what was happening.

“I thought the whole experience in his wheelhouse was a really smart idea.

“Plus it was one of the history books, I loved everything about Hold Still.”

The final 100 images for the Hold Still project were selected by the National Portrait Gallery and the Duchess of Cambridge, who is its patron.

The photography project, created in the context of the coronavirus lockdown, focused on three core themes: Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal, and Acts of Kindness.

The project is freely available to view on the National Portrait Gallery website.

The museum said: “Presented here in this special digital exhibition, the 100 finalists present a unique and very personal record of this extraordinary period in our history.

“From virtual birthday parties, handmade rainbows and applause from the community to brave NHS staff, resilient key workers, and people facing illness, isolation and loss.

“The images convey humor and pain, creativity and kindness, tragedy and hope, expressing and exploring our shared and individual experiences.”
