Both Amakhosi and the Brazilians have new coaches, but they will be determined to start their season off with a winning start.
The 2020-21 PSL season is scheduled to begin on October 24 with some exciting matches on the menu.
But this is expected to be a congested match list with matches to be played every three days due to the coronavirus.
The league has already confirmed that MTN8 matches will be played behind closed doors.
According to a match list circulating on social media, Mamelodi Sundowns will begin their title defense with a visit to Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium.
The Orlando Pirates have a trip to Durban to face AmaZulu in their first league game of the new season.
While all eyes will be on the match between Amakhosi and the Brazilians, there are other matches to look forward to.
Baroka FC, who recently suspended manager Dylan Kerr, will play at home against Maritzburg United on 24 October.
There will be more matches on the same day with Bloemfontein Celtic hosting Golden Arrrows at Dr Molemela Stadium.
Cape Town City is scheduled to face Chippa United at Cape Town Stadium, while SuperSport United will play at home against Black Leopards at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
PSL Swallows FC’s new guys Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) and TS Galaxy will be in action on the same weekend.
The Dube Birds will travel to the Western Cape to face Stellenbosch FC, while TTM will face TS Galaxy in a match that is expected to attract much interest from South African soccer fans.
The Swallows beat the NFD auto-promotion, while TTM and TS Galaxy bought Bidvest Wits and Highlands Park respectively, and it will be interesting to see how the three-club pair fare in the top flight.
Both Swallows and TS Galaxy have been busy in the transfer market in preparation for next season, and expectations are high for both teams.
The two games (Stellenbosch vs Swallows and TTM vs TS Galaxy) will take place on Sunday, October 25.
The second group of matches will see Kaizer Chiefs visit Chippa United in Port Elizabeth on October 27, while Mamelodi Sundowns will play at home against TTM a day later.
On October 28, the Pirates will host Stellenbosch at Orlando Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
The first Soweto Derby of the season will reportedly take place on January 31.
