Jurgen Klopp had addressed claims that he has a “rivalry” with Chelsea manager Frank Lampard prior to Liverpool’s trip to London.

The German will come face to face with the Blues manager at Stamford Bridge as both teams look to build on their opening Premier League victories.

It comes just two months after they teamed up at Anfield, with the Reds winning 5-3 to lift the title.

But the night was marred by a clash between the coaches on the bench before Trent Alexander-Arnold’s incredible first-half free kick.

After reprimanding the Liverpool manager with a curse in the empty stadium, Klopp said the Chelsea manager continued the discussion after the match.

But the German has put aside any animosity he feels for Lampard ahead of their meeting at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Reds boss said: “Between Frank and I there is absolutely nothing. I admired and loved him as a player and now he is doing a very good job as a coach.”

“So I can’t help you with any ‘rivalry’ between us, obviously we will be rivals on Sunday, but other than that everything is fine.

“We are different clubs, leading in a different way, that’s right: we invest what we earn and sometimes we invest before we win, but it is still based on these kinds of things and it is not so for other clubs.

“Whatever they do, although I completely agree with that, everyone can do whatever they want and it’s a free world. We have our way of dealing with the club.”

It comes days after Lampard responded to the Reds manager’s comments that Chelsea are a “different club.”

“I was less upset with him, I found him more, kind of funny,” Lampard said in quotes reported by BBC Sport.

“The Liverpool story: It’s a fantastic story of a club for over four and a half, five years where Jurgen Klopp has been there and has brought the draft to a really high level.
