Juan Mata’s recent stats show a shocking drop

Manchester United veteran Juan Mata’s performances over the past three seasons show a sharp decline compared to his previous efforts, according to The daily star.

The 32-year-old has already been used seven times by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season and, despite having recorded two goals and two assists, The Star contends that the Spaniard’s statistics show he is not producing the goods.

“Although he’s made his way back to the team lately, his once impressive goals and assists count have slipped to mediocrity over the past three seasons,” says The Star.

“After managing 61 goal contributions in his first 156 Premier League appearances with the club, a ratio of 0.37 per game, he has only managed three in the next 28 outings, a ratio of 0.13.”

“That’s an alarming decline for a play that was once one of the best creators in the league, with just three assists and no goals in the league since the start of the 2019/20 season.”

Mata’s stats show an even greater decline compared to his time at former club Chelsea.

In fairness to the Spaniard, in the last three seasons he has played almost exclusively on the right wing, which is not his natural position and possibly a completely unnatural one for a player suffering from a lack of rhythm.

It should also be noted that despite a quiet performance yesterday, Mata won the penalty that gave United victory. He was also voted Player of the Month in September.
