With a population of 7.27 million, Arizona has 11 electoral votes, which now go to Democratic candidate Joe Biden, according to the Associated Press news agency.
The Southwestern state broke its own records with early voting, marking a massive turnout of 2.6 million votes cast before Election Day.
Democrats hoped to change the state, which has been a bulwark of Republican support for decades, both at the national and state levels.
On Tuesday night, the US channel Fox News provoked the condemnation of US President Donald Trump when the network reported that Arizona had gone to Biden.

Campaign events
In the run-up to Election Day, the Trump campaign had intensified its campaign in Arizona. Last week, both Trump and his running mate, Vice President Mike Pence, visited the state in a belated effort to shore up more votes.
Biden’s running mate, US Sen. Kamala Harris, also held campaign events in Phoenix and Tucson last week.
Arizona has a growing Latino population, a fact that had led many analysts to expect political change in the state for years.
Gibby Vee, 43, moved to Gilbert, Arizona, from Northern California more than a decade ago. He voted for Biden this year, citing the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the president’s “divisive” governing style.
“In this case, we cannot afford to have another four years of someone who has very poor leadership skills and is not capable of uniting a nation,” he told Al Jazeera.
Earlier in the day, Francine Romesburg distributed pro-Trump flyers outside a polling station in Glendale, Arizona.
When asked why he voted for Trump this year, he said: “Truth, honesty, our freedoms, our freedoms; our religion.”
