The 28-year-old finally joined the Buccaneers to end days of speculation about the move.
The Orlando Pirates have signed Democratic Republic of Congo international forward Jean-Marc Makusu on a one-season loan deal from AS Vita.
Makusu’s deal has the option of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
His arrival at Orlando Stadium puts an end to the rumors linking him to the Pirates, as he becomes manager Josef Zinnbauer’s eighth signing for the 2020/21 season.
Zinnbauer’s transfer business focused more on midfielders and Makusu becomes the German forward’s first all-time signing.

“I am happy to have joined this prestigious club and I look forward to a successful stay,” Makusu told the Pirates website.
“This move presents a new challenge in a new country for me. I have great ambitions and I am sure I can achieve them with my new teammates ”.
Makusu comes to Pirates with the experience of having previously played in Belgium for Standard Liege, as well as other seasons in Hungary, Algeria and Egypt.
With the Pirates set to participate in this season’s Caf Confederation Cup, the forward brings vast experience after helping AS Vita reach the final of that tournament in 2018, where he finished as the competition’s second top scorer.
The pirates reportedly defeated the Moroccan team and Caf Confederation Cup champion RS Berkane, who was said to be interested in Makusu.
Zinnbauer believes the forward will join more competition early on, where Frank Mhango has been leading his attack and the two could form a surprising and deadly partnership.
“We are pleased that Makusu is joining the team and we look forward to working with him,” said Zinnbauer.
“Our team this year has all the players in every position competing for a spot in the starting lineup and it will be no different for him. The healthy competition we have created will help bring out the best in all of our players. “
Makusu could make his debut for the Pirates when they host SuperSport United on November 21 in a Premier Soccer League game.
An impressive inaugural season in the Pirates’ colors could see the Buccaneers activate the option to sign him permanently when his loan contract expires at the end of the season.
