JOHANNESBURG – The ANC says the January 8 declaration will consolidate its identity as a movement of people and respond to South Africa’s most pressing problems.
But the party will not announce what it will do with senior leaders implicated in corruption.
This week’s ANC NEC meeting sidestepped the issue.

“The ANC will take this opportunity to reaffirm our collective commitment to the resolutions of the 54th national conference,” said Nomvula Mokonyane, organizing director of the ANC.
“It is a platform to reaffirm the ANC as a movement rooted among the people and as a leader of society. It is a time to harness the legacy of the ANC’s founding mothers and fathers.
The party says a report recommending that the ANC secretary general Ace Magashule step aside did not appear.

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the birthday message live from the party venue at Luthuli House on Friday evening.
