Jamie Carragher has underlined the importance Sadio Mane plays for Liverpool FC after he helped lead the Reds to victory over Chelsea FC on Sunday.

The Senegalese international scored both Liverpool FC goals within four minutes of the second half at Stamford Bridge and the Reds beat 10-man Chelsea FC 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Mane has established himself as one of Liverpool FC’s most important players in recent seasons alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in attack.

The 28-year-old scored 22 goals in 47 matches in all competitions for Liverpool FC last season and has won the Premier League and Champions League since joining the Southampton Reds in June 2016.

Carragher has now underlined his belief that Mane is the key attacking player in Liverpool FC’s three forwards, a point of view highlighted by the Senegalese forward’s role in the 2-0 win over Chelsea FC at the weekend .

Talking to Sky sportsCarragher said: “Sadio Mane was Liverpool FC’s best player last year. He is one of the best attacking players on the left side of the world.

“I have said this before. We talk about [Mohamed] Incorrect, [Virgil] Van Dijk and Alisson [Becker] but I always go back to Mane.

“It was Klopp’s first big signing. That move led Liverpool to the Champions League in Klopp’s first full season.

“Without that, I don’t think I will continue from there. It has been the constant since day one with Klopp. He is an absolute superstar. “

Mane hopes to be a part of Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Monday night with a home game against Arsenal at Anfield.

The Merseyside team are aiming to defend their Premier League crown this season after finishing in first place last season and 18 points clear of second-placed Manchester City.

The Reds are also in action in the League Cup Thursday night when they face Lincoln City in the third round on the road.
