Wesley white, the son of Bulls rugby manager Jake white, has set his sights on representing the Blitzboks.

According to Red24The 25-year-old has joined the seven national academy in Stellenbosch for a probationary period.

Wesley was born in Cape Town and attended Bishops, where he played his first rugby XV as a wing in 2013.

That same year, he played for the Western Province U-18 team against the Montpellier youth team in France. He had a contract with the Western Province Rugby Academy in Stellenbosch.

In 2014, he moved to Durban and played for the Sharks under-19 team as a hooker.

The following year, he represented the French club PRO D2 Montauban, before going on to study at Lindenwood University in Missouri in the United States between 2016 and 2019.

There he was a two-time collegiate All-American, a two-time winner of the Collegiate Rugby Championship and also coached with the USA Eagles national sevens team.

He had his sights set on representing the United States nationally, but those plans didn’t materialize, and after a stint in England, he’s back in South Africa hoping to make a name for himself on the Blitzboks.

“My dream is to get a contract and be without the Blitzboks. The Olympics are on the horizon (July) but I think they (the Blitzboks coaches) already have an idea of what that team will look like. But there is also a World Cup. World (Rugby Sevens World Cup in Cape Town in 2022) that is ahead and that may be a more realistic goal, “said White junior.
