Gordhan was to appear for cross-examination by former SA Tax Service chief Tom Moyane in early August.
But he did not show up and sent his chief of staff to tell the investigation that he was attending a cabinet meeting.
At the time, Zondo expressed dissatisfaction that Gordhan’s reason for not appearing was unconvincing.
Gordhan had asked for a postponement until Aug. 31, but Zondo said Gordhan will appear on a date determined by the chairman of the investigation.
Niehaus further accused the investigation of refusing to listen to the side of the story of those seen as defenders of the radical economic transformation faction of the ANC led by Zuma.
He mentioned former Transnet and Eskom CEO Brian Molefe and former Agencia Ferroviaria de Pasajeros de SA (Prasa) CEO Lucky Montana.
“Obviously, the investigation has specific people to target, and the appearance of witnesses before the investigation is not an equal opportunity moment,” Niehaus said.
“It is clear that the main objective that the investigation and its president have in their sights, and that they are literally pursuing, is [former] President Zuma. “
