Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is flying high in the land of the pharaohs, remaining undefeated so far during his tenure at Al Alhy.

After two wins and a draw in his first three matches in the Egyptian league, Mosimane is about to compete in his second Champions League final as a coach. He directed Al Ahly win 2-0 against Wydad Casablanca in the first leg of the 2019-20 Caf Champions League semi-final in Morocco on Saturday night.

Mohamed Magdi put Al Ahly in the lead early on, finding the back of the net in the fourth minute. The Egyptian team continued to press for a second, which came from the penalty spot at 62.

The return leg is at the Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria this Friday, with the favorites from Al Ahly to conclude the semifinal at home.

Mosimane led the Sundowns to the 2016 Caf Champions League title, defeating Zamalek 3-1 on aggregate in the final.

Fans are convinced that the South African manager can do it again, and after Saturday’s victory they flooded social media with memes and comments praising Mosimane.

Many urged the entire nation to back the coach, while others said that those who once hated Mosimane because he was in charge of his rivals should now respect his name and call him “Sir.”
