CAPE TOWN – President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed rumors of a pending return to level three lockdown.

Ramaphosa responded to questions at the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Tuesday about COVID-19 and the government’s fight against corruption.

His response followed a series of incidents from businesses and members of the public failing to adhere to the regulations.

President Cyril Ramaphosa said South Africans should not be alarmist about lockdown regulations.

Responding to a question about the lockdown rumors circulating, Ramaphosa said he was still concerned about public behavior.

“What we have to do now in light of what we are going through, I don’t want to be alarmist and I don’t want our people to be alarmed by rumors that we’re going to level three, that’s just not true and I want to assure everyone that it is not true “.

Ramaphosa told the NCOP that he would make an announcement on the regulations when the need arose.

“If he ever gets there, I’ll be the one to let the nation know where we are and where we’re going, so now all we have to do is comply with our preventive measures and wear their masks.”
