A member of the family of Andile “Bobo” Mbuthu, 16, allegedly kidnapped and killed last week in Hambanathi, Tongaat, outside Durban, says he was a promising young man.
“It was full of life and it was always bubbly … he liked to make art,” said his aunt, Zodwa Jali, from her home.
She was speaking to a small media group at the family home, where government officials and community members had gathered to offer the family some support.
Jali said he hoped the matter would be resolved soon, saying the family wanted DNA results.
“[Initially], we think that perhaps he is not dead. Then we saw that he passed away. We have not been able to sleep or eat since then. We want the DNA tests and we want to do the burial. “
It remains
Mbuthu’s remains were found Friday in a brick-filled bag that was dumped into the Wewe River outside the Tongaat area, north of Durban.
The crime is alleged to have taken place at the well-known Magagula Lounge in Hambanathi and was due to allegations of alcohol theft.

He was a good boy
Jali said Bobo had a promising future as he was in his last year of school.
“He was enrolling this year and we were sure he would pass. We want to thank the people who supported us, especially the people of Hambanathi and the surrounding area.”
MEC for Social Development Nonhlanhla Khoza said they would help the family with social workers.
“Everyone is very traumatized right now. We want them to have a closure.”
Police Minister Bheki Cele will meet with the family on Tuesday morning.
