Rachel lifted the lid on having the virus in an Instagram post, in which she spoke candidly about how lonely it is not to have her husband and children with her.
“I never had a fever, a sore throat, or a cough. In fact, I spent the day in the pool and assumed I had a sinus infection. I realized that I couldn’t smell anything so I directly isolated myself until I received my positive result.
“It’s been really hard and scary at times, especially when you have young children who don’t understand why they can’t touch you.”
Rachel said her heart breaks for those in the hospital who have to fight the virus alone, not knowing if they will see their loved ones again.
“Equally, my heart breaks for healthcare workers who work tirelessly and with few staff, while others don’t take safety precautions seriously. Covid-19 is not like the flu.
“It’s much worse and if my post can encourage someone to take an extra precautionary step, that will be great. Also, if you know of people who don’t take Covid-19 seriously, please talk to them about it.”
