Los Angeles police said Wednesday that investigators identified the cause of the crash that left Tiger Woods seriously injured last month, but did not elaborate, citing concerns about the golf star’s privacy.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the investigation into the Feb. 23 vehicle accident that left Woods with a broken right leg was now complete.

However, Villanueva said information about the cause of the accident will not be released unless Woods waives his right to privacy.

“A cause has been determined, the investigation has concluded,” Villanueva said.

“However, we have reached out to Tiger Woods and his staff.

“There are some privacy concerns with releasing research information, and we will ask if you are giving up privacy.

“Then we can make a complete publication of all the information related to the accident.”

Woods suffered serious injuries when his SUV rolled off the road and rolled over multiple times during last month’s accident at Ranchos Palos Verdes.

The 45-year-old, 15-time senior champion then underwent hours of surgery to repair his shattered lower right leg and ankle, which included insertion of a rod into the tibia and screws and pins to stabilize the joint.

Woods was released from the hospital earlier this month and is now recovering at his home in Florida.

Investigators had previously said that Woods does not face reckless driving charges for the accident, describing it as “purely an accident” and adding that there was no evidence of impairment.
