Liverpool fans would welcome Luis Suárez back to Anfield with open arms and Gabby Agbonlahor doesn’t understand why more clubs aren’t trying to sign the magnificent forward.
Suárez has been ostracized by Barcelona and coach Ronald Koeman has told him that it is not part of his plans at the Camp Nou.
There, the 33-year-old was ready to join Juventus, but the move collapsed due to passport complications.
To make matters worse, reports suggest that he faces allegations of fraud over claims that he cheated on an Italian test that was needed to obtain a passport.
Then a move was proposed to Atlético de Madrid, Barcelona’s LaLiga rival, but it is understood that the Catalan club has disconnected it.
Barça was believed to be willing to let him go with a free transfer as long as he gave up part of the money owed to him, but they changed his mind when they found out that he would join Atlético.
In even stranger scenes hailing from Barcelona this summer, rumors claim that Suárez will hold a press conference alongside his lawyers and says there was a verbal agreement for him to join Diego Simone’s side.
But what about a possible return to the Premier League, after his incredible three-and-a-half-year, 82-goal spell with Liverpool?
Former Aston Villa captain Agbonlahor is surprised that a Premier League club has not yet entered the market for Suárez with him.
And he says Liverpool fans will be delighted with the idea of Suarez returning to Anfield this summer.
“He has been an absolutely outstanding striker in both Liverpool and Barcelona,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. “If you look at his record for goals in Barcelona, it is the third highest in his history.
“For me then it could only be one thing: salary. Are you making a lot of money at Barcelona?
“But if you ask any Liverpool fan now, if they would have Luis Suárez again, they would jump at the idea.
“It’s strange why no one has come for him, but maybe he doesn’t want to play for another English club after leaving Liverpool. The clubs could have gone after him and we don’t know. “
And in a blatant transfer request to Suárez, Agbonlahor added: “I would have it. If you want to come to Villa Park, you can come and play at Aston Villa! “
