JOHANNESBURG – The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) rejected Action SA’s appeal to register as a political party.
The commission said it had rejected Action SA’s request due to similarities with another political party and its use of the South African flag.
In September, the IEC rejected Action SA’s application to register as a political party for the same reasons.
Action SA, which was founded by former Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba, said it was currently consulting with its legal team to decide the next step.
Our appeal has been successful with respect to the rejection of the flag by the IEC, but rejected on the grounds of similarity.
We are consulting with our legal team to study the Commission’s reasons for upholding the Electoral Director’s decision. Https://t.co/vdTVNWfQKz
