Netflix has canceled the sitcom with Idris Elba after just one series in which the actor played a DJ and a male babysitter.
The actor had reportedly been working on ideas for a second season of “Turn Up Charlie,” but Netflix and Idris simply did not agree. “
Citing a source, the Sunday Mirror newspaper reported that “Idris hoped to launch a second season and was even working on new ideas, but was unable to get it to work.”
The cancellation is a surprise because the actor recently revealed that he was excited about the second season.
” “It’s very exciting. I am involved with the creation of the script, which mainly sowing stories. But again, the scripts have taken on a life of their own.
“There are characters who have their own narrative threads now. And that’s good, that’s healthy.” he said.
The actor, who co-created the eight-episode series, revealed that he had worked hard to convince Netflix that it could be fun.
