JOHANNESBURG – The International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem (ICEJ) has supported the Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng following the findings of the Judicial Conduct Committee.

Last week, Mogoeng was ordered to recant and apologize for his comments on the Israeli and Palestinian conflict.

The ICEJ said it delivered a statement of support to the Office of the Chief Justice on behalf of thousands of South Africans.

It included the hundreds of messages of support and prayers that emerged from a petition to the President of South Africa, currently signed by 122,000 people.

The organization’s national director, Vivienne Myburgh, said they fundamentally opposed the decision that sought to silence the Chief Justice.

“This freedom of expression and belief has been threatened and it is imperative that all freedom-loving South Africans speak out against this type of culture of institutional cancellation. We fully express their right to express their Christian convictions and support for peace in the Holy Land. We denounce those who maliciously misinterpret your message towards your hateful agenda. “
