JOHANNESBURG – Democratic Alliance (DA) Member of Parliament (MP) Phumzile van Damme attacked the party through a series of tweets, saying that she will not allow her name to be dragged through the mud.

Your comments are in response to an article by sunday time on Sunday morning, which he claims is being investigated by the organization for discrediting him.

Van Damme said he had only learned of the charges through the media and has objected to the party’s federal legal commission not informing him of the investigation.

He said the same strategy was used to expel former leader Mmusi Maimane from the organization.

At least seven prominent leaders, including KwaZulu-Natal Director Zwakhele Mncwango, are reported to face disciplinary charges in what has been touted as a battle for control of the organization.

The saga comes on the heels of the dramatic resignation of Gauteng leader John Moodey this week, who said there was a purge within the organization where Maimane’s allies were under attack.
